Dive Meet Details
When Do Dive Meets Happen? Dive meets are held on Tuesday evenings. We have six dive meets in the season, including the All-City Championship.
- Arrival: Divers need to arrive by 5:45 PM for warm-ups.
- Timeline: Meets begin at 6:00 PM and end around 9:30 PM.
What is a Dive Meet? A dive meet is an outdoor competition between two or more teams where athletes perform their learned dives legally and safely for a score.
Competition Requirements Divers must meet the following criteria to be entered as a competitor for any meet:
- 7U: Perform 2 dives with a proper approach (jumps allowed).
- 9U: Perform 3 different dives with a proper approach (1 jump allowed).
- 11U: Perform 3 different dives with a proper approach (no jumps allowed).
- 13U: Perform 4 dives from 2 different categories* with a proper approach.
- 15U: Perform 3 voluntary dives from 2 categories* and 2 optional dives from 2 other categories.
- 18U: Perform 1 voluntary dive and 5 optional dives from 4 categories.
- Dive Categories: Backward, Forward, Inward, Reverse, & Twist.*
Meet Entries & Rotations League rules limit us to entering three competitive divers per age group/sex combination at each meet. Because of the size of our team, we typically have more qualified divers than we have competitive slots available.
- Rotations: We use a rotation system to ensure everyone gets an equal opportunity to compete.
- Exhibition: Depending on the host team, we may be able to enter additional divers in "exhibition" slots.
- Diving "Up": We have the ability to enter divers in an older age group if they meet those qualifications and are willing to do so. This is always the athlete's choice, but it gives us a great opportunity to maximize our entries and let as many kids dive as possible!
All-City Championship Qualifications Like regular season meets, we are strictly limited to three divers per age group/sex in the All-City Championship (there are NO exhibition slots at All-City).
Coaches track everyone’s total scores during the regular season. Whether a diver competed in a competitive slot or an exhibition slot, all scores count toward All-City consideration. At the end of the season, coaches will select the three All-City competitors based on:
- Meet Participation: Athletes must have participated in a minimum of three meets (credit is given if an athlete signed up to compete but the meet was full).
- Performance: The three divers in each age group with the highest average scores.
- Team Spirit: Behavior, effort, and participation at weekly practices.
